trees of old atlanta

there's a certain mysticism and air about the south.  though most of the charm and decadence of the old South has all but died with the romanticists, there still exist traces of its once prominent air.

in a new and developing city, atlanta...where cold steel and glass structures grow forth and gestate like rampant architectural virii...a causal stroll will produce sight of magnolias--long standing symbols of the South.  outside the confines of the industrial design studio stands this magnificent magnolia tree and rows upon rows of holly--their leaves ever green, gleaming, and resilient through the seasons.

i stepped aside for a fleeting moment from the harrowing deadlines and drudgery...and took a walk.  i took in a deep lungful of the heady, redolent Southern air--maybe it was just the marker fumes getting to me inside--and walked idyllicly...lazily 'neath the doldrumic shade of this magnolia tree.  And only in the South can a walk be taken decadently--moreso in Savannah--but I was in Atlanta...in the heart of Downtown.  But the roots of southern gothicism run deep through the red Georgia clay.

Or maybe it's been all too recent since I last saw 'midnight in the garden of good and evil' on HBO or something.
